Operation Context

The Hôtel Communautaire is a 1,605 m² public administration building in Sorigny, southwest of Tours in central France, serving as the headquarters of the Communauté de Communes Touraine Vallée de l'Indre — a federation of municipalities in the Indre Valley. The building houses approximately 65 staff members across the federation's administrative services.

Through participation in the 2023 CUBE competition, the Hôtel Communautaire achieved 22% energy savings, placing first in the Animation category and and 106th overall. This reduction was driven by a combination of light technical adjustments, including motion detectors in corridors with automated lighting controls, manual temperature controls in each office, and CO₂ sensors in shared offices to monitor air quality. There was also a focus on the use aspect: a volunteer green team with representatives from each service led an active engagement campaign through shared meals, climate workshops, eco-behavior quizzes, seasonal events, and regular CUBE updates posted throughout the building.

Key measures implemented

The main actions implemented to reduce the energy consumption of this building.
