Operational Context

The Air and Naval Operations Unit headquarters  in Ancona is a four-storey public building owned by the Italian Financial Police (Guardia di Finanza). Built in 1980, it has a net floor area of 1,499 m² and is mainly used for offices.

The energy efficiency project was funded through PREPAC, the Italian national programme supporting the energy renovation of Central Public Administration buildings to help achieve national energy efficiency targets. The retrofit measures focused on improving the building envelope and installing a rooftop photovoltaic system, following the outcomes of a comprehensive energy audit.

The energy performance analysis estimated that the implemented measures would reduce natural gas consumption by 63%, overall energy consumption by 35%, primary energy use by approximately 104.3 MWh per year, and CO₂ emissions by around 20.4 tonnes per year.
